My husband Mark and I have been recently involved in Alzheimer's & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin.  We participated in several events this year.  Most recently we volunteered at the Alzheimer's Dane County Walk at Warner Park.  It was a beautiful fall day (September 22nd) and the attendance was great. 

It feels good to give back to the community.  Mark is also a board member, so we really are close to the "cause".

I also enjoy the connection with my senior facility housing expertise.  The more people I can connect with in the senior housing realm, the more I hope to assist in making senior housing facilities beautiful, functional and "home" to all that live and visit there.

]]><![CDATA[SENIOR HOUSING NEEDS]]>Wed, 31 Aug 2011 14:21:55 -0800http://www.brendabradydesign.com/1/post/2011/08/senior-housing-needs.htmlWe just finished the interiors of another senior housing facility in Oconto WI.   Located in a small town of about 4500 people, this beautiful facility will draw seniors from this rural area which is located on Green Bay. 

It makes us wonder about senior facilities and their locations.  Certainly they are quite plentiful in the large metro areas.  They are even competitive which is a plus for an interior design firm that works in this specialty market!
Competition is always good because it keeps standards up.  Several of my projects have been remodels of existing senior housing facilities... typically 10-15 years old and needing a "face-lift".  This is a wonderful aspect of our business.

However what will happen to the baby boomers in rural communities and small towns when they want to retire into a senior apartment or assisted living facility?  Will they be forced to leave their roots - and go to a larger city? Or perhaps demographics will provide the developers of senior housing information that will move them to build new facilities in the small towns.

Senior housing continues to grow at a rapid pace!  I'm sure all of us baby boomers will find a beautiful facility to grow old in!




]]><![CDATA[Fast Professional Designer]]>Sat, 13 Aug 2011 11:52:04 -0800http://www.brendabradydesign.com/1/post/2011/08/fast-professional-designer.htmlIt seems to me that our world has become a "fast food" place.  Everyone wants everything instantly because of our technology and instant responses.  Sometimes it feels good to not be by the computer or the smart phone and just relax. 

Clients today want fast interior design.  On the HGTV shows they see instant make overs of spaces - in a weekend!  Why can't we perform the same magic on your project?

Because professional design isn't fast.  It takes time and thoughtfulness to be creative.  It takes time to put all of the elements of a project together.  It takes even more time to get furniture, fabrics and artwork delivered in a timely manner.  Unfortunately our vendors are not faster in this economy.  The vendors are slower due to smaller staffs, lower volume, less inventory of parts and pieces and simply less ability to produce quickly.

In my firm, Brenda Brady Design LLC, we do our best to  expedite most projects as quickly as possible.  I know that clients want to get things going once they hire us.  We are a fast professional interior design firm - but we work other restrictions and limitations - such as vendors!
